Frequently Asked Questions
-
Avoiding probate is the primary reason to have a trust. It minimizes estate expenses and simplifies the distribution process for your trustee and beneficiaries. Wills are something everyone needs and can work alongside trusts, payable-on-death accounts, and Lady Bird deeds. What works for you depends on your unique family and financial situation.

Most powers of attorney for financial matters are acceptable for several years. Medical powers of attorney and patient advocate designations are typically acceptable indefinitely.

An estate planning attorney is a licensed legal professional with a thorough understanding of the state and federal laws that govern how your estate will be handled after your passing. Beyond building the initial plan, your estate planning attorney is an ongoing resource as your circumstances change over time, keeping your will, trust, and related documents current.
